Answer the following questions (yes or no):

Is anxiety a problem for me?

1. Do you worry excessively about the future or bad things happening (e.g., earthquakes, a loved one getting hurt or sick, failing a test)?
2. Do you often feel restless or on edge?
3. Do you have trouble sleeping because your mind is racing with thoughts?
4. Do you experience a lot of headaches or stomachaches?
5. Do you experience lots of nightmares?
6. Do you often feel uncomfortable in social situations or talking to new people?
7. Do you spend a lot of time worrying about what other people think about you?
8. Do you spend at least an hour a day repeating things, such as washing, checking, arranging, or counting?
9. Do you spend a lot of time trying to make things perfect?
10. Do you have sudden rushes of intense fear or anxiety?
11. Are you afraid to be alone or do things on your own?
12. Do you have a strong fear of specific situations or things, such as blood, needles, heights, water, small spaces, flying, animals, or insects?
13. Do you often avoid going places or doing things because you feel anxious?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, anxiety might be a problem for you.  This website (and the MindShift CBT app) can give you some ideas about how to manage your anxiety.

This quiz is not meant to diagnose actual anxiety problems, but to give you a bit of an idea about whether anxiety might be a problem for you.  If you do think anxiety is a problem, it’s important to talk to your parents, a counsellor, or a doctor.
